Every Cavalier Scores in Win Over Bobcats

Box Score

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. - -  Led by a team-high 17 points by Taylor Sandidge, UVa-Wise placed five players in double figures en route to an 84-74 win over West Virginia Wesleyan at the Rockefeller Center on Saturday.

UVa-Wise (6-12, 5-7) made six first half 3-pointers as Blair Harding and Katie Jo Dockery each canned a pair of triples in the period.  Sandidge netted seven of her 17 points in the half while also drawing two charges.

Unable to cool the visitors from the perimeter, West Virginia Wesleyan (1-14, 1-11) entered intermission trailing 35-26.

A 12-6 run by the Cavaliers to open the second half extended the advantage to 47-32 with 16:26 to play. Dockery capped the run with her third 3-pointer of the contest.

The run would prove to be the difference in the contest as the Bobcats would cut the lead to as few as seven on four separate occasions but would be unable to get any closer.

The win required a total team effort for coach Kristin Kunzman's club.  Harding 14, Dockery 14, Kehanna Grayer 12, and Allison Ball 11 along with Sandidge finished in double figures while all eight players dented the scoring column.

Dockery finished with four made 3-pointers to tie a career-high while Ball's 11 points are the most in the freshman's young career.

As a team, UVa-Wise made 10 of 20 3-point attempts while going 20-24 at the free throw line.  The win completed a season sweep of the Bobcats and improved the Cavs to 4-0 against Wesleyan since the formation of the Mountain East Conference.

Mari Stewart registered a double-double in defeat with 26 points and 12 boards while Adrian Cunningham finished 10 of 15 from the field to score 25 points while handing out six assists.

UVa-Wise will be back in action on Thursday when Glenville State visits the Prior Center for a MEC contest.
