Box Score WISE, Va. -- The Golden Eagles had four players in double figures Saturday to defeat the Cavaliers 85-48 at the Prior Center.
Jevonte Hughes led the way for the University of Charleston (12-4, 7-3 MEC) with a game-high 14 points. Cameron Dozier and Tino Ditrapano both finished with 12 points and six rebounds each, while Aleksander Kesic added 10 points and five rebounds. As a team, the Golden Eagles shot 48.4 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from beyond the arc. The University of Charleston out-rebounded the UVa-Wise 47-27 and limited the Cavaliers to only five offensive rebounds.
Philip Owens II led the Cavaliers (1-14, 0-10 MEC) with a team-high 11 points and three assists. Brian Sydnor finished a little shy of a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 32.1 percent from the floor and 12.5 percent from behind the arc.
UVa-Wise will return to action Thursday as they travel to Athens, West Virginia to take on Concord University.
