Box Score GLENVILLE, W.Va. – UVa-Wise made just 12 of 40 3-point attempts while falling 52-37 in the battle of the boards in an 83-57 loss to Glenville State at the Waco Center on Saturday.
Glenville State (6-2, 4-0 MEC) built a 50-23 halftime led by hitting nine 3-pointers and limiting UVa-Wise to just 29 percent shooting in the half.
UVa-Wise (1-6, 0-4 MEC) won the second half 34-33 but the first half deficit was too much to overcome.
Kade Kager led a trio of Pioneers in double figure scoring with 18 points, Donte Morales and Juwan Wells each netted 10 in the win. As a team, Glenville State handed out 16 assists to just nine turnovers while making 45.6 percent of its shot attempts.
Oliver Thompson made five 3-pointers en route to a career-high 15 points for UVa-Wise. As a team, the Cavs shot 27.3 percent for the game.
UVa-Wise will be back in action on December 15 for an exhibition contest at Norfolk State.
