STORYLINES – THE GLENVILLE STATE GAMEDefending Mountain East Conference regular season and tournament champion Glenville State enters the game just 1-3 overall and 1-2 in MEC action. Most recently, the Pioneers suffered a 104-96 defeat to Concord on Thursday. It was the second time in four games that Glenville State has allowed 100 or more points. Despite their struggle on defense, the Pioneers enter as the MEC's top-ranked offense, posting 89.2 points per contest. Senior Keyanna Tate leads the charge for Glenville State as she ranks fifth in the league in scoring at 16.8 points per contest. Tate is also in the top ten in rebounding as she ranks seventh with 9.5 rebounds a game.
ABOUT UVA-WISEUVa-Wise won its third consecutive MEC game to open the season on Thursday, a 70-60 win over West Virginia Wesleyan. The Cavaliers have been impressive on defense in league games, opponents are shooting a league-worst 32.3 percent from the field and an even worse 19.1 percent from beyond the arc. Blair Harding is scoring a team-high 18.2 points per game while fellow guard
Taylor Sandidge is scoring 13.7 points a contest. A complete player, Harding ranks in the MEC's top 15 in scoring, 3-pointers made, assists, field goal percentage, free throw percentage, and steals. The game will be the final MEC game of 2014 for the team, UVa-Wise will finish out the year with a trio of non-conference tilts before returning to league play on January 3rd when Wheeling Jesuit University visits the Prior Center.
