Box Score WISE, Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan College shot 51.0 percent from the field and limited UVa-Wise to 25.4 percent shooting as the Bobcats claimed a 65-44 Mountain East Conference victory over UVa-Wise on Thursday.
Wesleyan (2-5, 1-2 MEC) was led by junior Chris Dewberry and Tanner McGrew. Dewberry scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while McGrew turned in a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds. The Bobcats shot 55.6 percent from beyond the arc. Wesleyan also out-rebounded UVa-Wise 48-34.
Brian Sydnor led the way for UVa-Wise (1-5, 0-3 MEC) with a team-high 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Charles George also added 10 points and five assists. The Cavaliers shooting struggled in the loss, as a team UVa-Wise hit on 45.0 percent on its attempts from the line, and 19.2 percent from behind the arc, in addition to the 25.4 percent field goal shooting.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday when team faces off against Glenville State College at 4 pm.
