Box Score BRISTOL , Tenn. - - King University used a full court trapping press to post a 21-2 run to close out the first half en route to a 54-38 non-conference women's basketball victory over UVa-Wise Saturday.
UVa-Wise (4-6) jumped out to a 16-3 lead in the first 10 minutes of the contest but would score only 22 points over the remainder of the game. The Cavaliers made just 28.1 percent of their shot attempts in the game, including a 4-21 performance from beyond the arc.
King (6-4) was led by Bonnie Durrett who scored a game-high 20 points on 7-16 shooting. Durrett hit four 3-pointers and grabbed six rebounds in her 30 minutes of work.
Kayla Carey was the only Cavalier to finish in double figure scoring as she scored 10 points on 4-8 shooting.Â
The game was the final contest of 2014 for UVa-Wise who will return to action on January 3rd when Wheeling Jesuit visits the Prior Center for a Mountain East Conference showdown.
