Box Score WISE, Va. – The Tornado's head coach George Pitts landed his 1000th win Thursday as King University defeated UVa-Wise 88-44 in the Prior Center.
King University (7-2, 3-0 CC) shot 52.5 percent from the field and limited to UVa-Wise 28.8 percent shooting. The Tornado had three players finish in double figures. Drew Standifer finished with a game-high 17 points, Mack Owens added 13 points and Logan Lyle finished with 12 points. As a team, King University hit on 38.2 percent from beyond the arc and 86.7 percent from the line.
The Tornado out-rebounded UVa-Wise 45-27 in the victory.
Matt Day led the Cavaliers (1-7, 0-4 MEC) with a team-high 14 points. Philip Owens II also added 12 points, while Corey Dick added a career-high and game-high eight rebounds. As a team, UVa-Wise hit on 24.1 percent from behind the arc and 66.7 percent from the line, in addition to the 28.8 percent from the field.
The Cavaliers will return to action Sunday, December 21 at the Prior Center against Lincoln Memorial University.
