Box Score

MONTGOMERY, W.Va. - - UVa-Wise hit a season-high 14 3-pointers, eight of which came from Blair Harding as the Cavaliers posted an 80-64 victory over West Virginia Tech at the Basil Center on Saturday.  Harding hit five of her eight 3-pointers in the first half as she finished with a career-high 33 points.

UVa-Wise (4-4) built a 41-24 halftime advantage as Harding scored 22 of her points in the half.  As a team, the Cavaliers connected on 9-17 3-point attempts and limited the Golden Bears to just 31 percent shooting in the half.  Despite being undersized, coach Kristin Kunzman's squad grabbed 14 offensive rebounds and outrebounded the taller West Virginia Tech club 29-17 in the half.

West Virginia Tech (5-7) slipped farther behind in the opening moments of the second half as Harding scored the first five points to extend the lead to 22.  The Cavaliers would lead by as many as 24 points in the second half before a 10-0 run by the Golden Bears made the score 58-44 with just under 10 minutes to play.

It would be as close as West Virginia Tech would get as UVa-Wise built the lead back up to 24 points before cruising to the 80-64 victory.

Katie Jo Dockery hit 4-6 from beyond the 3-point line to finish with 14 points while Kayla Carey was 5-7 from the field en route to 13 points in the win. UVa-Wise outrebounded West Virginia Tech 50-30 for the game and limited the Golden Bears to just 4-17 from beyond the arc.  The Cavs finished the win with 26 made field goals and 25 assists.

Elizabeth Evans led Tech with 16 points while teammate Cheyanna Lusk netted 13. Nia Nolan entered as the leading scorer for the Golden Bears but was limited to 4-10 shooting and nine points.

UVa-Wise will be back in action on Wednesday when the University of Pikeville visits the Prior Center for "Kids Day 2014". Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
