Storylines – The West Virginia Tech GameFormer Mid-South Conference foe West Virginia Tech enters the game 5-6 and on a three-game losing streak. The Golden Bears most recently suffered a 91-74 loss to Point Park on Wednesday. Tech is led by 5-3 Nia Nolan is who averaging 18.4 points per game and has scored 20 or more points in four games this season. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2011-12 season when the Cavaliers scored a sweep of the Golden Bears. UVa-Wise won 96-87 in Montgomery that season.

Kayla Carey set new career-highs in points and rebounds with a 23-point 20-rebound perfromance. Overall, UVa-Wise continues to call on its perimeter defense to hold off opponents. Through seven games, opponents are making just 23.8 percent of shots from beyond the arc and are committing 19.6 turnovers per contest. The game will be the first of three straight non-conference tilts for the Cavaliers over the holiday break. Pikeville will visit the Prior Center on Wednesday for "Kids Day 2014" before the team visits King next Saturday to wrap up the 2014 porition of the schedule.
