Box Score URBANA, OHIO –Speed and aggressiveness helped Urbana jump out to a 19-5 lead and never look back en route to their first MEC victory, scoring a 103-68 victory over UVa-Wise on Saturday.
Urbana's (2-1, 1-0 MEC) Carlas Jackson posted a game-high 26 points while Ognjen Rebic turned in a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Overall, the Blue Knights placed five players in double figures. Urbana shot 50 percent from behind the arc, while shooting 49.4 percent from the field and 77.3 percent from the line. The Blue Knights also out-rebounded the Cavaliers 49-35.
Brian Sydnor had his second double-double of the year to lead UVa-Wise (1-2, 0-1 MEC). He netted a career-high 18 points and added 11 rebounds. Tyler Maggard tied his career-high with five 3-pointers, scoring 15 points. The Cavaliers shooting struggled in the loss, as a team UVa-Wise hit on 47.8 percent of its attempts from the free throw line, 43.1 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc.
UVa-Wise will return to action Monday, as they travel to South Euclid, Ohio to take on Notre Dame College at 6 pm.
