WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - - #1 West Liberty University made 14 3-pointers en route to a 116-79 victory over UVa-Wise on Monday. In the loss, UVa-Wise's Deon Boyce scored a game-high 23 points while also collecting 19 rebounds, teammate Javon Moore also turned in a double-double with 14 points and 11 boards.
West Liberty (10-0, 6-0 MEC) placed six players in double-figure scoring, led by Kelvin Goodwin's 22 points off the bench. Shawn Dyer, 19, Segar Bonifant, 17, Keene Cockburn, 16, Cedric Harris, 12, and Devin Hoen, 11 also had strong offensive nights for the nation's top team.
UVa-Wise (6-4, 3-3 MEC) committed 23 turnovers and shot just 39.5 percent from the floor in the loss. Charles George scored 13 points to join Boyce and Moore in double-figure scoring for the Cavs.
UVa-Wise will return to play on Thursday when West Virginia State visits the Prior Center for a 7:30 pm tip.
