STORY LINES
  • UVa-Wise continues what figures to be its toughest stretch of the season on Sunday.  Between December 21 and January 18 the Cavaliers will play seven games, six of which will come on the road.
  • Senior Deon Boyce is the reigning MEC Player of the Week.  The forward recorded a pair of double doubles in the week prior to the Christmas break.  On the season, Boyce leads the MEC in rebounding at 14.3 per game.
  • The Cavs and Cardinals will each be looking to stop a pair of streaks on Sunday.  UVa-Wise has dropped back-to-back road contests while Wheeling Jesuit is 0-2 this season at home.
  • Starting Sunday, UVa-Wise will play eight more games in the Mountaineer State this season.  By comparision, the Cavs have just eight home games remaining on the schedule.
  • Coach Blake Mellinger's squad will be playing a schedule similar to that played by NBA clubs over the next week.  UVa-Wise will play four games in six days with three of the contests taking place away from the Prior Center.
  • While UVa-Wise will go 14 days in between games, Wheeling Jesuit has not played a game since December 7 when the Cardinals posted an 85-73 road victory over Notre Dame College.  Jesuit has not played at home since November 25.
