STORY LINES
  • Thursday's game against Concord University will be the first of back-to-back home games.  The Cavaliers have not played consecutive home games since December 7th and December 17th.
  • Senior Deon Boyce continues to have one of the best seasons in school history.  Through 14 games, Boyce is averaging 16.9 points and 14.` rebounds per game.  Boyce's rebounding total leads the Mountain East Conference.
  • Senior James Turner leads the team in 3-point field goal percentage.  Thus far, Turner has connected on 42.1 percent of his shots from distance.  The percentage ranks 10th in the MEC.
  • The Cavs lead the MEC in offensive rebounds.  As a team, UVa-Wise has grabbed 227 offensive rebounds for a 16.2 offensive rebounds per game average.
  • Thursday''s slate of games completes the first trip through the MEC conference.  As things currently stand, UVa-Wise would host Wheeling Jesuit University in the opening round of the conference tournament in the #8 vs. #9 game.
  • In addition to Boyce, Matt Day and Javon Moore also rank in the league's top 10 in rebounding.  Day and Moore are tied for 7th in the league at 6.8 rebounds per contest.
  • Overall, UVa-Wise ranks second in the MEC in rebounding margin at +5.6 while Concord ranks 10th at -3.6.
