Fairmont State Goes 20-20 at Foul Line in Victory over UVa-Wise Women

FAIRMONT, W.Va. - - Fairmont State shot 47.5 percent from the field while also going a perfect 20-20 from the foul line to post a 77-52 win over UVa-Wise on Monday.  The Falcons placed four players in double-figure scoring in the win led by a game-high 19 points from Makenzie White.  Fairmont State also forced 22 turnovers and out-rebounded the visitors 40-28.

UVa-Wise (7-6, 3-6 MEC) struggled from the field in the loss hitting just 36.4 percent of its shots and 23.5 percent of its attempts from distance.  Katie Jo Lester was the lone Cavalier to score in double-figures as she made three 3-pointers en route to 11 points.  Freshman Kayla Carey had a strong game for UVa-Wise as she scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds from her forward position.

White added four rebounds, four assists, and five steals, in addition to her game-high 19 points for Fairmont State (6-5, 4-4 MEC).  The Falcons also received 15 points from Deidra Combs along with 14 points from Brianna Innocent and 12 points from Emily Lohr. 

The Cavaliers will return to play on Saturday when the team travels to Charleston for a 2 p.m. tip.
