WISE - - #17 Glenville State College scored 54 second half points to claim a 101-65 MEC road victory over UVa-Wise at the Prior Center on Saturday. The victorious Pioneers placed 12 players in the scoring column while playing 14 players.
Glenville State (6-1, 4-0 MEC) received 18 points each from Kenyona Simmons and Tiffani Huffman and out-rebounded UVa-Wise (6-2, 2-2 MEC) 65-47. The Pioneers also connected on 15 3-pointers, six of which came from Huffman.
Katie Jo Lester joined Simmons and Huffman for game-high scoring honors with 18 points on 7-14 shooting. Teammate Taylor Sandidge was the only other player to crack double digits for the Cavaliers as she scored 10 points. Makenzie Cluesman added nine points and nine rebounds in the loss.
The Cavs will return to play on December 18 when the team travels to NCAA Division I Campbell University for an exhibition contest.
