STORY LINES
  • Saturday's game pits the league's highest scoring team, Glenville State and the league's best scoring defense, UVa-Wise. The Pioneers are averaging 108.8 points game while opponents are scoring just 60.9 points a game against the Cavaliers.
  • Following Saturday's contest, UVa-Wise will not play at the Prior Center again until January 9th when the team plays host to W.Va. State University .  In total, the Cavs will play just one home game from December 7th - January 22nd.
  • Freshman Taylor Sandidge scored a game-high 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and handed out three assists in UVa-Wise's victory over W.Va. Wesleyan on Thursday.
  • UVa-Wise continues to dominate the paint, on Thursday the Cavs scored 28 of the team's 53 points in the paint.    
  • After holding W.Va. Wesleyan to 2-13 shooting from beyond the arc, UVa-Wise now leads the MEC in 3-point field goal defense at 26.5 percent.
  • Junior co-captain Katie Jo Lester is tied for the team lead in made 3-pointers this season.  Most recently, Lester made two 3-pointers and scored 10 points against W.Va. Wesleyan.
  • Using a four guard lineup, rebounding has fallen more on the shoulders of the UVa-Wise backcourt.  The four guards have combined to average 23.8 rebounds per game.
