STORY LINES
  • UVa-Wise will look to continue its best start in a decade when the team plays its first ever road MEC contest.  At 4-0, the Cavaliers are just two wins away from tying the best start in school history which was set by the 2002-03 club.
  • For the second time in the early season, UVa-Wise will play after more than a week layoff.  In the first instance, the Cavs overcame poor shooting to down Virginia-Lynchburg 64-58.
  • After missing the second half of last season, junior Javon Moore is starting to return to form.  The Falls Church, Va. native scored 22 points, grabbed nine rebounds, handed out eight assists, and finished with four steals in the win against Notre Dame.
  • Senior Deon Boyce continues to lead the MEC with 14.3 rebounds per game. Boyce has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in each of the first four games.
  • Sophomore Matt Day is second on the team in scoring at 14.3 points per game and second in rebounding at nine per contest.  Day has already recorded two double-doubles this season.
  • UVa-Wise leads the MEC in scoring defense, 60 points per game and field goal percentage defense, 38.8 percent.
  • A key to the game could be the Cavs' defense against the outside shooting of the Bobcats.  Wesleyan leads the league in made 3-pointers, 89, and 3-point shooting percentage, 43.6 percent.
