STORY LINES

UVa-Wise sophomore Charles George continues to score and protect the basketball. Through three games, George leads the team in scoring at 14 points per contest while having committed just one turnover in the last two games.
10 players played and scored in Saturday's 76-48 win over Urbana. Senior James Turner scored a career-high 18 points while sophomore Pape Sall blocked a career-high five shots. Eight of the 10 players played more than 15 minutes.
The Cavaliers are leading the Mountain East Conference in scoring defense at 56.7 points allowed while also leading the league in field goal percentage defense at 38.1 percent and 3-point field goal percentage defense at 25 percent.
Boosted by senior Deon Boyce's league leading 15 rebounds per game, UVa-Wise's rebounding margin of +10.3 is tops in the MEC.
All five starters for the Cavaliers are averaging eight or more points on the season.
Monday's game will feature the top-ranked scoring defense (UVa-Wise) and the last-ranked scoring defense (Notre Dame) in the MEC. The Falcons prefer an up-tempo game and are averaging 83 points per contest to rank third in scoring offense.
Notre Dame is averaging over eight made 3-pointers per game. The duo of Jarvis Huntley and Lawrence DeArmond have combined for 12 3-pointers on the season. Huntley and DeArmond are both averaging 20 points per game to rank fifth in the MEC.
