KANSAS CITY – The UVA Wise men's basketball team will literally open the 2025-26 season for the NCAA Division II as they will not only be playing in the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic November 1, but will be in the opening game.
The tournament will be held Nov. 1-2 in Lakeland, Florida, on the campus of Florida Southern College.
The Highland Cavaliers will take on Lubbock Christian at 11 a.m. in the opening game of the Classic, and will face host team Florida Southern the next day at 5:45 p.m. This will be the first time the Cavs have faced either team.
The Hall of Fame Classic was started in 2016 and has emerged as one of the most prominent events in NCAA Division II Men's Basketball. It is sponsored by the Small College Basketball Association, who work to promote men's basketball at all levels besides NCAA Division I.
UVA Wise becomes the fourth South Atlantic Conference team to play in the Hall of Fame Classic, joining Carson-Newman (2024), Lincoln Memorial (2016, 2019, 2022), and former member Queens University of Charlotte (2018).
