Wayne Edwards is a 1962 graduate of The University of Virginia's College at Wise (Then known as Clinch Valley College of the University of Virginia). He is a former coach of the men's basketball team. Wayne was an Associate Professor of Mathematics at UVa-Wise for over 30 years until his retirement in 2005. He was the voice of the Highland Cavaliers, announcing basketball games in Fred B. Grear Gymnasium. Wayne has served as the Alumni Association Board of Directors President and has served on the Highland Cavalier Club Advisory Board. He is also a member of the College's Twinleaf Society. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000 for Outstanding Service and Support. He and his wife, Brenda, live in Wise, Va.
