Bob Sage was a three-year starter on the Cavalier baseball team where he was a .350 career hitter.
Sage had a career day when he belted three doubles and drove in eight runs when Clinch Valley College defeated rival Lincoln Memorial University. That same season, LMU defeated East Tennessee State University and the University of Tennessee. As a senior, Sage led the team in hits, doubles, homeruns, and RBI. Sage finished the season with a .419 batting average and became one of the first All-Conference players in the history of the school when he was selected to the District 32 All-Star team. In 1979, Sage was named Most Outstanding Player.
Today, Sage lives in Virginia Beach.
